Nemoka Drain Project

HASLETT/ MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Nemoka Drain Project has started construction on Colby, Edson, Lake Lansing, Potter, and Shaw. The project includes storm sewer installation, pipe installation, asphalt work, paving, etc.

According to the Deputy Drain Commissioner Paul Pratt, construction is set to end in November, 2021 but as of June 30th construction has been currently postponed due to conditions.

The project is set to help with the drainage system in the area to help with flooding in both residential and commercial buildings that have been constantly flooding, causing mold to form underground, and in basements in order to assist with public health safety.

The project is a cost of $8 million, that is being borrowed with a 20 year bond issue with an interest rate of 1.49% which is being assessed to the township, county, and the individual acreage.
