LAKE LANSING SOUTH - The Lake Lansing Bandshell kicked off its summer concert series on June 4 with singer Don Middlebrook. The Bandshell has new artists performing every Friday night at 7 PM.
The Bandshell is returning this summer after the 2020 season was put on hold due to COVID-19. The band lineup had already been completed and sponsors put in place when the season was cancelled.
“COVID-19 kind of put us behind a little bit,” Bandshell Chair President, Aengus McIntosh said, “We took the 2020 schedule and moved it to 2021, so it’s been a reenactment of 2020.”
Art Coscarelli, guitar player for Avon Bomb, has been playing the Lake Lansing Bandshell for seven years. After a year away, he is excited to get back to playing.
“It was tough, but at my age it was nice to have the time off,” Coscarelli said, “It makes me appreciate the time off more because we were playing almost every weekend. It’s nice in the regard that I took advantage of the time I had off, but I’m looking forward to playing again.”
This year, The Bandshell is able to open up with no COVID-19 restrictions. Masks are encouraged, concessions are offered, and hand sanitizing stations are provided.
The Lake Lansing Bandshell brings different genres of music every Friday at 7 pm, with the last concert of the season on August 27, 2021. Admissions is free along with free parking; dogs are welcome as well.
