Nemoka Drain Roadwork Intergovernmental Agreement

Nemoka Drain Roadwork Intergovernmental Agreement

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Tuesday, July 21st, the Meridian Township Board met to discuss the Nemoka Drain Roadwork Intergovernmental Agreement.

Meridian Township Treasurer Phil Deschaine moved to approve and execute the Nemoka Drain roadwork improvement intergovernmental agreement between the Charter Township of Meridian and the Ingham County Drain Commissioner as presented.

Meridian Township Deputy Director Derek Perry told the Board, "The roads Edson, Potter, and Shaw are in advanced state of disrepair and we have been holding off on resurfacing those roads in anticipation of the county drain project, the Nemoka Drain. That is proceeding now as partners with the drain officers and their contractors they have on hand to do the road work. The Township will be a partner in that project. We also have a inter local agreement to have that come to fruition. It involves several roads that will be resurfaced and we show a pathway along Shaw that would connect Haslett all the way to Lake Lansing South and our intent is to make that connection."

Trustee Patricia Jackson thanked Perry for his explanation and for pointing out acid management to coordinate many infrastructure projects to minimize the discomfort and destruction in the neighborhood as these projects are executed.

Perry also told the Board that they have already done some preliminary work and he expects to begin the drainage work in the coming months.

The Board Passed the project 7 to 0.
