Former Michigan State Gymnastics Coach Sentencing Delayed

LANSING - Former Michigan State Gymnastics Coach Kathie Klages sentencing schedule for Wednesday, July 15th at 9am was delayed due to a water main break outside the Veterans Memorial Courthouse in Lansing, Michigan. A new sentencing date has yet to be announced.

Kathie Klages was found guilty by a jury in February of a felony and misdemeanor for denying she knew of former Michigan State and United States Olympic Doctor Larry Nassar's abuse before 2016. Larry Nassar was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison in February of 2018.

In November 2018, former Olympic Gymnast Larissa Boyce testified that back in 1997 she reported Nassar's abuse to Klages and if she filed a report, there would be serious consequences for Boyce.

The misdemeanor carries up to a 2 year prison sentence or a fine up to $5,000. The felony carries a 4 year prison sentence or a fine up to $5,000.
