Ingham County Animal Shelter Facilitates Pet Adoption Appointments

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Ingham County Animal Shelter continues to help pets in need while also taking COVID-19 safety precautions.

Animals are still welcome in the shelter, and Ingham County residents are finding new ways for adopting these pets through utilizing networking resources like video chats and pet profiles to help match pets with families.

These adoptions are done by appointment through shielding glass to ensure staff and adopters are safe enough to fill out proper documentation.

22 adoptions were made between March 29 and April 4. There are currently 100 pets in foster care and the Ingham County Animal Shelter looks forward to finding homes for pets.

As of now, adoptable animals are not being housed at the shelter. Residents can find out more about adopting animals on the shelter's website at www.ac.ingham.org, and send an adoption inquiry through the adoptable pets platform.

The pet’s caretaker will then follow-up with more information about the pet, and how to move forward with adoption or transfer of foster care.

Residents are also encouraged to contact the shelter at 517.676.8370, visit their website, or their shelter at 600 Buhl St. in Mason for additional information on discounted adoption fees or programs.

The Ingham County Animal Control Shelter is still closed to the public due to COVID-19 health concerns.
