Meridian Township Officially Introduces New Economic Development Director
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, MI - The Meridian Township Board held a meeting on Tuesday, March 31st. This marked the first ever virtual meeting held due to the COVID-19 crisis and Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe" Executive Order.
Board Members and staff participated in the meeting electronically from remote locations. Township Manager Frank Walsh introduced the the new Economic Development Director to the Township Board, Ken Lane, who also serves on the Planning Commission. Lane is taking over for Chris Buck, who left the position to pursue new opportunities. Township Manager Walsh says, “At the end of the day, our Planning Commission Chair Ken Lane, a resident of the Township and former Economic Developer of Delta Charter Township, agreed to join our team, and we're really excited about it.”
When Lane previously served as the Economic Development Director for the Delta Charter Township, he assisted in the Township’s Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and Brownfield Plan. Lane also brings over 15 years of experience of municipal law, planning, zoning, and land use, public pension laws and real estate to Meridian Township. He has served as general counsel to multiple Downtown Development Associations, Brownfield Redevelopment Authorities as well as Tax Increment Financing Authorities.
Ken Lane spoke a few words and says, “It has been an honor to have been selected to be the Economic Development Director for Meridian Township. I intend to keep the development momentum going and I’m glad to be on board and working with you all moving forward.”
