Online Map Helps Families Find Meals During School Closure

Online Map Helps Families Find Meals During School Closure

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Due to the recent health concerns of the coronavirus, all K-12 public schools will be closed between now and April 5, 2020.

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) recently announced that an online map will be accessible to help families find places where food is provided during this closure. This map will be updated twice each day during this time-frame.

These meals are served under the Unanticipated School Closure Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), and are available to all children at no cost. Up to two meals will be served each day to children between the ages of 0 to 18, as well as students with disabilities between the ages of 18 to 26 and have an active education program.

This program also assists Michigan's school districts and community partners to ensure that kids receive nutritious meals.

Schools and sponsors that participate in the Unanticipated School Closure program ensure children are provided with ideal food security since schools are closed.
