Lane Closures at Okemos and Hamilton Road Intersection
OKEMOS - Consumers Energy has reopened the closed lanes to traffic for the night. Crews will resume working on Friday, June 7th. Road signs will be put back up beginning around 6:00 am. Tomorrow they will need to close both southbound lanes of Okemos Road to allow crews to safely access the underground natural gas main that they need to access to retire the service lines that feed off the main. One of the northbound lanes will be temporarily converted to allow southbound traffic tomorrow. The left turn lane from Hamilton onto southbound Okemos Road will also be closed for safety. They anticipate needing to work on this project the entire day tomorrow.
OKEMOS - Drivers will have to maneuver around lane closures for today and possibly tomorrow at the Okemos and Hamilton Road Intersection.
Consumers energy is working to retire six gas service lines to prepare for the Village of Okemos redevelopment project.
Eastbound Hamilton Road between Ardmore Avenue and Okemos Road is down to one lane as well as Southbound Okemos Road between Grand River Avenue and Clinton Street.
Consumers energy anticipates that the work will be done today but there is a chance that it will continue until Friday, June 7th.
For the time being, motorists are advised to stay off the roads in the area.
