MSU 25th Annual Race for the Place 5K

MSU 25th Annual Race for the Place 5K

EAST LANSING - On Sunday, April 14, residents and kids gathered at IM Sports West at Michigan State University to participate in the 25th Annual Race for the Place 5K, to help fund MSU Safe Place services to those who have been victims of relationship violence and stalking.

The fundraiser consisted of many 5K Runs and Walks throughout the afternoon.

Holly Rosen, Director of MSU Safe Place, was at the event and talked about what Race for the Place means for MSU Safe Place and the community.

"Race for the Place allows people in the community to come out and show their support of our organization and to learn about our services and to have a fun event. Race for the Place has been offered on campus for 25 years now to support MSU Safe Place."

The fundraiser also meant a lot to Angela Michael, a Committee Member for MSU Safe Place.

"This race has been the biggest fundraiser for MSU's Safe Place, which is a domestic violence shelter that serves the MSU community -men, women and children and the outside community it is one of the only if not the only domestic violence shelter found on a college campus that we know of I don't know if there are others but 25 years we have been doing this run and every time people register the money directly benefits the Safe Place."

The next Race for the Place will be April 2020.
