MasterWorks 3: Schubert Symphony No. 9
Lansing Symphony Orchestra
Known as The Great, Schubert's Symphony No. 9, is an homage to Beethoven but its lyricism and "heavenly length" stretch well beyond Classical norms. Today's most well-recorded classical harpist, Yolanda Kondonassis, will give a unique and electrifying performance of Grammy Award winner Jennifer Higdon's Concert for Harp and Orchestra. This autobiographical work is a reflection on a life full of personal struggle and connects with the listener on an intimate level. Hailed as a "superb young soloist" by the New York Times, Nicholas Canellakis will bring Schumann's Cello Concerto to life.
