MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Sunday afternoon locals from around Meridian Township had the opportunity to bowl for a good cause.
The Meridian Cares Team held their "Strike Out for a Cause" fundraiser at City Limits East to benefit families and individuals in financial crisis in Meridian Township.
Meridian Township Human Services Specialist Darla Jackson explained more about the event.
"The funds raised today by the bowlers will help prevent people from losing their utility service or from being evicted and having those type of crisis get to a further point so we're basically trying to keep people from having their utilities shut off or without a home," said Jackson.
Meridian Cares aims to raise $10,000 by the end of the 2018 to replenish the Emergency Needs Fund that helps Township residents who are in need of assistance.
The next Meridian Cares event will be a karaoke night at Old Town Chicago restaurant on October 19th.
