LANSING - On September 13th, candidates running for Michigan’s 8th U.S. Congressional District was invited to a Candidate Forum at Lansing Community College to talk with students, faculty and community members.
The forum was intended to give a chance to the public to meet and talk with the candidates.
“We had talked about health care, prescription drugs, and the role of government in our lives. We talked about a bunch of different things,” said Democratic 8th District Congressional Candidate Elissa Slotkin.
During the forum, Slotkin covered many different topics about national politics and answered questions that people most concerned about.
“If we can get an actual independent voice in Congress that is not beholden to one of the two parties, that is a huge win for freedom,” said Libertarian 8th District Congressional Candidate Brian Ellison.
This event was a way to bring the community together to learn about the candidates before the November General Election.
Republican Incumbent 8th District Congressional Candidate Mike Bishop was not in attendance at the forum.
