Kicking For A Cause

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Saturday, September 8th, "The Will Goodale 'King of Kickball' Fun Day" took place at Meridian Township's Towner Road Park in Haslett to honor the memory of 10-year-old Will Goodale who passed away from a brain tumor in 2015.

In 4th Grade, Will earned the name of "The King of Kickball" at Ralya Elementary School which made this event even more fitting to honor his name and spirit.

There were food trucks, music, a children's area and of course, kickball. Teams of all ages were welcome to join the tournament.

“I feel honored that I have the opportunity to be here, and to enjoy this tournament in his honor. He was such a wonderful kid himself," said Jennifer Richardson, Will’s 2nd Grade Teacher.

“It was wonderful to see everyone playing the game, and just enjoy the time with each other," said Ronda Goodale, Will's Mother.

Will always wanted to be a police officer and swat-team member for the Meridian Township or Michigan State Police. The Will Goodale Memorial Foundation helps those who share Will's life-long dreams and goals of pursuing law enforcement. Proceeds are invested in full and used to provide scholarships for students entering a police academy.

There were a total of 15 teams that participated in the tournament, raising $10,500.

“Today was a better day than I ever could have expected," said Shane Goodale, Will's Father.
