MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township's Parks & Recreation Department held their 5th Annual Love a Park Day on Saturday, May 19th. More than 50 volunteers came out to help spruce up local parks across the township.
Kelsey Dillion, Park Naturalist and Stewardship Coordinator for Meridian Township, was one of the volunteer coordinators at today's event.
"Love a Park Day started five years ago when (Trustee) Phil Deschaine decided we needed a community wide event to spruce up the parks for our busy summer season."
Volunteers helped plant flowers, mulch, pick up trash, clear trails, wash equipment/signs, remove invasive species and more.
The volunteers helped clean up at four parks: Eastgate Park, Orlando Park, Hillbrook Park, and Forest Hills Park.
