CATA Board of Directors Meeting Discuss Redi-Ride Service

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The CATA Board of Directors held a meeting at the Meridian Township Municipal Building on February 21. This is the first CATA Board of Directors meeting held in Meridian Township in an effort to reach its residents.

The Board went over percentage increases that will go towards the overall funding of CATA’s fixed routes and paratransit services as well as plans to make Redi-Ride services more accessible to residents in the City of Lansing, East Lansing and Meridian Township.

Redi-Ride is an advance-reservation, curb-to-curb service which operates between 9am-5pm, Monday-Saturday. The Board discussed changing the service times to 6:30am to 6pm Monday-Saturday in order to be more time friendly to those who would like to use the service before and after work.

CATA recently expanded Redi-Ride to five new locations as of February 19th, including the Meijer in Bath, Costco and the East Lansing Aquatic Center in effort to make commutes more resident friendly.

"The ultimate goal is to provide the highest quality service that improves the riders experience and the accessibility of places they want to get. I think it’s great that the Meridian Township Board asked to expand CATA Redi-Ride service to five new locations. I think it's terrific that the authority had that service up and running so quickly," said Nathan Triplett, Chair of the CATA Board of Directors.

Expansion of Redi-Ride service hours have not yet been finalized or approved by the Board.
