INGHAM COUNTY - On Day 7 of the former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University doctor, Larry Nassar's sentencing hearing at the Ingham County Circuit Court, Judge Rosemarie Aquilina sentenced Nassar to 40-175 years in prison for the 7 counts of sexual assault he pleaded guilty to in Ingham County. He was facing a minimum of 25 to 40 years as part of a plea agreement.
"Sir, you do not deserve to walk outside a prison ever again," said Judge Aquilina.
Nassar has 21 days to appeal the sentence.
More than 150 women have come forward with victim impact statements of sexual abuse by Nassar at the sentencing hearing.
“I will carry your words with me the rest of my days," said Nassar. "Your words these past several days have had a significant emotional impact on me. What I’m feeling pales compared to what you’re feeling. I am shaken to my core.”
Nassar has already been sentenced to 60 years in prison on three federal child pornography charges. Next week he is scheduled to be sentenced on more assault convictions in Eaton County. In addition to the criminal convictions, Nassar faces civil lawsuit filed by at least 140 women and girls.
