MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Last Thursday, Hampton Inn and Suites of Okemos celebrated their remodel with a ribbon cutting.
Hampton Inn and Suites General Manager Heather Koeske said all of the guest rooms were completely renovated.
From new mattress to new furniture, these are the first renovations in 8 years.
Manager of Business Development for the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce Christine Zarkovich said this is one way that the township is celebrating growth within.
"What's happening is the community is coming to gather and they are really collaborating and they're getting excited to celebrate this business," Zarkovich said.
The growth of hotels in the area is telling of the growth of the township.
"In the last ten or 15 years, we've really ramped up the amount of people that are recruiting and hiring talent from out of the region," Economic Development Director Chris Buck said. "There is a need for people come in for temporary business travel needs or people that are relocating to the greater Lansing region and need a place to stay temporarily."
Through it all, a sense of community and togetherness remains as the businesses and people come together.
