Haslett Tops Waverly, Lansing Sexton Upsets Okemos

LANSING - Haslett and Okemos football would both play on the road this weekend, and both teams would have different outcomes. While Haslett would travel to Waverly, Okemos would take a trip to Lansing Sexton.

The Warriors struggled early on against the Haslett offense, and the Haslett defense only allowed Waverly to get on the board once the entire game. Early in the first quarter Haslett would score on a dropped snap and would return it for a touchdown. With 1:44 left in the first quarter Haslett would lead Waverly 27-0. The only score the Haslett defense allowed would be midway through the second quarter by Waverly's Keshaun Harris. The Vikings would pull away during the second half with a final score of 55-8.

After a devastating loss last weekend to Grand Ledge the Okemos Chieftains were hoping to redeem themselves. The second half would be plagued by flags, and on field injuries. The only score that Sexton would let up would be a field goal by the Chieftains during the first quarter. Sexton would take this one away 22-3.

"It's about us being consistent, staying confident and willing to sacrifice for each other. We knew Okemos was physical, and they have a great coaching staff. We knew they would fight until the very end," said Lansing Sexton Head Football Coach, Daniel Boggan.
