LANSING, MICHIGAN - The Walk to End Alzheimer's took place on the steps of the Capitol Building in Lansing, Michigan on September 24, 2017.

The Walk brought people from all over Lansing to raise money to combat the degenerative neurologic disease that affects millions of Americans each year.

Of the 1,075 people that had preregistered for the event, some were in the 140 teams that walked to raise money. The teams were either for an organization or to memorialize those who had lost their fight to the disease.

Team Steadman walked for two individuals that they were personally connected with Alzheimer's and raised $2,000 for the walk. Team Rolls walked for a family member that they had lost and to support people who were currently suffering with the disease.

Regardless of whether they walked in a team or alone, everyone had a flower from the Promise Garden that they carried for how the disease is or was affecting them and their family.

By the end of the event, the Alzheimer's Association had raised $252,733 to find a cure for Alzheimer's. The money will go towards research and local support programs in the Lansing area.
