MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Construction on the new Mt. Hope Pathway began back in April and is now 95% of the way done. The project suffered two weeks of rain delays and a few tight locations, but otherwise the project has gone very smoothly. Over 2,500 square feet of new side walk has closed the gap between Okemos Rd. and Maumee Dr. The new pathway completes the 2 mile stretch from Okemos Rd. to Hagadorn Rd., giving residents a safer way to walk, bike and run along the busy road.
Two remaining driveways still need to be poured and one section requires some work from Consumers Energy in order to move a guy wire near a utility pole. These last few items will be completed as soon as possible according to the subcontractors and Consumers' schedule.
Residents will begin to see lawn restoration and site clean up this week, as well as final tree and limb removals. The contractor will be moving most of their equipment over to Jolly Road to being retaining wall work before the end of this week.
