Meridian Police Offers Prom Safety Tips

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Prom season is here and Meridian Township Police Department has some tips to keep students safe.

Though the glitz and glam of prom is exciting, it is important to make safety the number one priority.

"You can have a good time without having alcohol or drugs involved," Officer Chrissi Scaccia said.

Scaccia said one of the most effective ways to ensure safety is to have an open line of communication between parents and students.

"We understand this is a fun time but, do it responsibly and have a plan and if you are comfortable, your parents or your guardians or older siblings are there for you in case you need a backup plan.”

Scaccia said if students are driving, parents should visit sos.com to check the curfews and restrictions for the graduated level license program.
