MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the April 5th Meridian Township Environmental Commission meeting, a Green Theme Presentation was given.
During the Presentation, Michigan State University Professor of Geography, Jeff Andresen, spoke about how Michigan is one of the regions that is getting warmer and wetter.
Andresen says, "Springs are coming earlier. Arguably the most significant change is it's becoming wetter. In general 10-15 percent increase in annual precipitation since the 1930's."
Andresen also said that this change has continued to be uniform. Typically the winter months in Michigan have been warmer than past months. Because of this change in weather, Andresen believes that we need to become more dynamic in our planning and thinking ahead for future seasons.
