LANSING - A place to express creativity, imagination and have some fun. REACH Studio Art Center has been a non-profit art space for people of all ages.

For 13 years, REACH has provided a place for locals to escape into art and engage with others.

According to their website, the REACH program in Lansing is "dedicated to mentoring the youth, urban revitalization and strengthening the community."

According to Joy Baldwin, the Program Director, there’s much more that REACH has to offer.

“Our mission is to make art accessible to everyone, but I think one of the bigger goals that comes out of it is also building relationships. People meeting each other, artists meeting people that can learn from them and being able to share their skills," said Baldwin.

The teen group for REACH work on community art projects and recently finished their 101st one. These art pieces are displayed in blight areas or used as signs for nonprofits in the area.

According to Baldwin, by providing colorful murals for these non-profits, more people are interested in what that group does.

“We did that for the Women's Center and they got so many people coming off the streets because before their building was just a white, non-visible building," said Baldwin.

REACH is expanding and has already made some renovations with new classrooms and studio just for the teens.
