MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Capstone Collegiate Communities LLC proposed to construct a 290 multiple family residential units at the corner of Hannah Boulevard and Eyde Parkway during the most recent Planning Commission meeting on January 9, 2017. The housing units will be known as Hannah Farms East once the project is complete.
Since the site plans were last proposed in December, the number of units were reduced from 296 to 290. The reduction of 6 townhouse also reduced the number of beds, bedrooms, required parking spaces, and overall parking spaces.
Much of the discussion centered around the density of the project.
Although Capstone Collegiate Communities LLC took the comments from the last meeting into consideration and reduced the size of the proposed project, many of the planning commissioners found the reduction to be very small, leaving the project still too dense.
During the meeting Commissioner John Scott-Craig said, “So if you want my support on this, you’re going to have to cut those numbers, not by six units, but by half.”
Scott-Craig also went on to say that although cutting the proposed project in half may be a problem for the developer, they should still strongly consider doing so.
The Planning Commission voted to not move forward with the Hannah Farms East project under the current site plans. The developer will have to go before the Planning Commission with revised site plans if they want the project to move forward in the future.
