EAST LANSING - Just days after the presidential election, the Michigan State University democrats decided to host a rally. People of all backgrounds rallied together on November 10 to protest against hate, bigotry, sexism, and racism.

Student leaders representing minority organizations, professors, and politicians spoke at the rally.
Students gave accounts of personal attacks that have happened on and off campus.

"Dolls painted black were hung from study lounges in dorms. Again, this is not ok," said Paul Herring, student speaker.

Some students feel that after the presidential election, it is important to unite together,

"Right now having such an uncertain future for so may people in America, that we need to unite together and just come together. It's scary, everyone's so scared," said Mia Wallace, student who attended the rally.

MSU democrats say that this was not a rally against Trump, but against certain things he's associated with.

"The rally really is giving people who don't see that side of the country a perspective on how people of minorities and people who are different than others are made to feel because of all the discrimination and things that are going on," said Dana Session, student at MSU.

Over 1,800 people signed up on Facebook to attend the event. Following the rally, protesters marched from MSU's campus all the way to the capitol.
