HASLETT - The DeWitt volleyball team swept Haslett, 3-0, in Panther nation on Wednesday.
Both teams headed into the match-up strong, making the first set a close one.
DeWitt scored the first point, and although the Vikings followed closely, they were unable to catch up.
The Panthers reached 25 points first, but allowed Haslett to score 22.
The second set was a bit different, as the Vikings’ chemistry faded when the mistakes continued.
DeWitt took advantage of Haslett’s frustration and capitalized, taking the second set, 25-12.
With one left to reach the sweep in front of the home crowd, the Panthers came out confident of their abilities.
Haslett put up a fight, keeping the ball in play with incredible dives and saves, but it wasn’t enough, as DeWitt continued to force mistakes from the Vikings.
Serves and spikes hitting Haslett’s own side of the net was what kept them at only four points in the third set.
The Panthers made the third set a fast one, quickly reaching 25.
With DeWitt’s last home match, came senior night.
The three girls in the class of 2017 were honored in the beginning of the game: Rachel Madar, Rebecca Seeger and Lexi Nordmann.
Nordmann was honored also at the end of the game for tallying 1,659 total career kills so far.
Both teams still have a week of regular season play, before compeing in the CAAC tournament.
