OKEMOS - A homecoming parade, a raucous crowd and a warm welcome for Okemos football led to a hot start from the Chiefs, but as the night went on, the fire cooled, and Lansing Sexton put up 20 unanswered points to spoil the fun. Big Reds sophomore quarterback Marcus Alston led the charge in the, 20-7, comeback victory.
The Okemos defense did its part in the first quarter, forcing a turnover on each of the first three drives for Lansing Sexton. The first turnover, an interception from Chiefs Alex Luo, was taken all the way back for six points, giving Okemos the early, 7-0, lead.
Early game jitters, perhaps, for Alston as he settled midway through the second quarter, finding 6-foot-5 wideout Karl Brooks for a touchdown. A missed extra point on the ensuing play, made it a, 7-6, lead for Okemos headed into the second half.
The Lansing Sexton defense did its part all night long, giving excellent field position for Alston to lead his troops. Two rushing touchdowns from the Big Reds, including a quarterback scamper from Alston, sealed a, 20-7, victory for Sexton.
