LANSING - The Lugnuts fell just short of a win agains the Loons on August 17, losing, 3-2, in a run scored in the 11th inning.
There seemed to a loose screw in the way the Lugnuts played this week, having the four-game series end unfavorably, 0-4, against Lansing.
The beginning of the third game showed a promising end result, with the Lugnuts leading, 2-1, at the bottom of the second.
Strong pitching from both sides kept the game scoreless until the sixth, when Loons outfielder Luke Raley hit a scorcher to the lawn and jogged around the bases for a homerun.
Kids in the lawn were eager to catch it and kept showing it off to everyone around them for the rest of the game.
With the game tied, 2-2, the rest of the regular innings were scoreless.
It wasn’t until the bottom of the 11th that Great Lakes was able to score another run to take home the third consecutive game, 3-2.
The Loons took the last wildcard spot in the playoffs.
