MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The approval from voters on August 2nd for Meridian Township's Pedestrian Pathway Millage means there will be more money for future projects relating to the pathways.
"Now that we had two thirds of the voters say yes we want to renew the pathway millage we now have an additional hundred thousand when we start collecting in the following year and those dollars will be used for additional construction of new pathway, additional maintenance and also as a match against the Ingham County Trail Millage so we can build that wonderful trail from MSU all the way to Lake Lansing," said Derry Perry, Assistant Township Manager/Director of Public Works & Engineering for Meridian Township.
The millage renewal and increase will be effective from January of 2017 through the year 2028.
The Township currently has 76 miles of pathways and the money from this millage will help repair those existing miles.
