MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township is looking to construct a trail that would begin by Hagadorn Road and Shaw Street near Michigan State University's campus and go all the way to Lake Lansing.
The Township is currently applying for a grant from the Michigan Department of Transportation to help fund the project. The Township would also like to use funding from the Ingham County Park's & Trails Millage and the Meridian Township Pathway Millage to fund the project.
If the funding is secured the project would begin in 2018.
"The idea would be to secure the funding first and then once we have the funding, proceed with the final design and get the required permits from DEQ, Township and what have you and any other agency that requires it," said Younes Ishraidi, Chief Engineer for Meridian Township.
The cost of the project will be $2.6 million dollars.
