LANSING - On Wednesday, June 22, the best of the Lansing area boys basketball players competed in the Fourth Annual Capital Area All-star game at Lansing Community College. The stars of the Lansing area were split up into two teams; East and West All-stars.
East roster: Riley Lewis (Williamston), Malek Adams (Grand Ledge), Josh Horford (Grand Ledge), Hunter Puhr (Stockbridge), Blake Wieber (Pewamo-Westphalia), Mitchell Krausz (Pewamo-Westphalia), Qwann Crockett (Webberville),Coach: Nate Lott (Weberrville)
West roster: Jamyrin Jackson (Everett), LeAndre Wright (Everett), Zac Latter (Leslie), Dylan Patton (Leslie), Quinton Armstrong (Holt), Ben Stillwell (Ovid-Elsie), Colton Antes (Fulton), Bobby Tadgerson (Bath), Kurtis Kodet (Williamston), Coach: Desmond Ferguson (Everett)
The East jumped out to an early lead, and they extended their lead to 26 points by halftime. The half-time score was 55-29. It really looked like the East were going to run away with this game.
As the second half progressed, the West were starting to mount a comeback. With about ten minutes to play, the East were holding on to a six-point lead. The West All-stars showed grit and determination to overcome the huge deficit they faced at half-time.
With just under two minutes to go, the West All-stars took the lead and never looked back. The West All-stars won the game by a score of 77-73. It was a fantastic game fought by two high-powered teams, but there can only be one winner, And the Western All-stars were that team!
