HASLETT - The Blue Gill Grill hosted a fundraiser for Wilkshire Early Childhood Center in Haslett, on Tuesday, June 21st.

Every year, husband and wife Cory and January Chvala, host an event where 10 percent of all food and beverages sales and all cash tips will go towards the charity of their choice.

"Tom and Denise Warner from the Blue Gill Grill offered to partner up with us on this project," said Cory Chvala.

This year for the annual event, the money will go towards Wilkshire Early Childhood. Wilkshire school will use all the money raised to purchase a new piece of playground equipment.

"Wilkshire is an amazing place for the children who go there," said by Cory Chvala who has a young child who attends the school.

Last year, with support from the community, many people came out for drinks, food and good conversation raising over $3,000 for the charity they were working for that night.

This year for the event, the couple raised almost $2,000 for the playground equipment. With larger a goal, donations are still being accepted.
