MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - With a couple of days before Memorial Day, residents of Meridian Township are given the opportunity to show their patriotism, while also supporting a good cause.
The Kiwanis Club of Haslett has been displaying American flags in various areas around the community for those who subscribe.
It costs $36 to subscribe and all proceeds go towards the children and families in the community.
Members of the Kiwanis Club, such as Tom Haas and Larry Morgan, will set the flags up for subscribers on every flag holiday. The club recognizes Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, 9/11 and Veteran’s Day as flag holidays.
“We have been doing this for three years and we have now about somewhere between 500 and 600 subscriptions,” said Morgan.
Meridian Township purchased 20 of the flags and they are waving proudly around the Meridian Township Municipal Building.
