OKEMOS - Haslett girls lacrosse traveled crosstown to Okemos where the reigning four-time regional champion Chiefs were eager to protect their crown and home turf. They illustrated just that with a quick, 10-0, lead by half, en route to a, 17-3, blowout on the regional final state.
Sophomore Alyssa Karber heads a class that has played big all season for the Chiefs. Friday night, Karber led all players with five goals.
"We love playing together," Karber said after the regional final victory. "A lot of of the sophomore girls and I have been playing together since fifth grade, and it's been a great time. We love it."
Okemos has a date with East Grand Rapids, the team that has put them away time and time again, once again in the state semifinals. An all too familiar feeling for the Chiefs, they expected to get this far, and hope this year they can exceed expectations.
