New Taste Comes to Town: Food Truck Review

New Taste Comes to Town: Food Truck
Review

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Last year Meridian Township passed a new ordinance paving the way for food trucks and food carts to get mobile vending licenses from the Township to sell food. This year, foodies, lunch seekers and local residents are eating the benefits of that decision.

One of the food trucks in Meridian and the newest food truck to the Lansing area is Daddy’s Little Grill (DLG). Chef Kevin Cronin is the owner and chef of this converted Sara Lee truck from Florida. Kevin previously oversaw the kitchen at Dusty’s Wine Bar for over 20 years and he has earned numerous awards, but the proof of those awards is in every savory item offered on the menu. I’ve decided to take it upon myself to do some taste testing just to see what all the hub is about.

First, I drove over to Wheat Jewelers in Okemos thinking, how busy can it be? It’s parked at a jewelry store. Twelve people deep is how busy it was when I arrived and Chef Kevin came out and greeted us. How’s that for service?! Then my counterpart and I couldn’t make a decision and the chef came out and flipped a coin for us. The coin decided on the angus burger and chipolte quesadilla. While waiting, a lady arrived wanted to have a birthday lunch. Chef Kevin helped her carry her picnic table and chairs from her car to under a tree. We were super impressed.

The food? Amazing burger! The ‘Dirty Truck Burger’ was filty good. Choosing angus beef and combining it with tangy pulled pork and jack cheese made it irresistible to stop eating. The guacamole on the quesadilla is some of the freshest around town. DLG is located at Wheat Jewelers on Marsh in Okemos every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11am until 4pm. Stay tuned for more reviews on my fanpage this week.
