OKEMOS - Chiefs, chiefs, and only chiefs.
The Okemos varsity girls soccer team mercied Lansing Everett, 8-0, on Tuesday night.
The Chiefs kept control of the ball throughout the entire first half.
Everett would steal the ball form an Okemos' player pass-gone-wrong, but it would be a matter of seconds before the Chiefs had it in their possession again.
The Chiefs scored six in the first half, keeping a distance that allowed them to play slower and calmer in the second half.
Still, shots on goal kept coming.
Everett's goalie did an incredible job in the second half, defending all but two goals in the last two minutes.
Everett has possession of the ball, but Okemos Shreya mishra steals it back.
She taps s short pass to teammate Veronica Gawarecki.
Gawarecki goes around Everett's defender and shoots from the outer right corner of the box.
Everett's goalie hesitates, thinking it'll go out, but the ball sneaks in the far left side and hits the back of the net.
Seven for Okemos, zero for Sexton.
There is less than 21 minutes left in the second half, when Okemos get s a free kick and Anne Major kicks a powerful shot straight to the goal.
Everett's goalie defends that one.
With 19 and a half minutes left, Everett tries to get it out of their side, but Mishra stops the ball with a header that goes in the box to Sophie Alegi.
Alegi stops, turns and spikes it up to go over the goalie.
Another goal for Okemos is game over at the Chiefs' turf, 8-0.
Okemos' next challenge will be at Grand Ledge at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
