OKEMOS - Okemos High School Athletics hired a new girls basketball coach.

Kristen Rasmussen will be the new varsity head coach, taking the place of Tyler Hursey.

Senior Oghenehoke Johnson said they have already played a few games with the assistant coach and that she is very excited for her final season as a Chief.

"Coach Meghan has been with us now and our head coach won't be here until the beginning of July, but so far it has been really nice and a lot of fun and I just can't wait for this season. It's just a lot, I'm just ready, it's just let's get down to business," Johnson said.

Ending last season with an overall record of 6-13, Johnson and some teammates have been attending strength and conditioning workouts at Okemos' new facility.

Johnson said she feels prepared to work hard this upcoming season.
