OKEMOS - Okemos and Mason matched up in a double-header on Wednesday at Okemos High School. The Bulldogs got out to an early lead in the first game and never looked back, on top 12-3 at the top of the sixth. Next inning, a little miscommunication from the Chiefs’ outfield and the Bulldogs take two more home to push the lead to 14-3. Mason gets it done in six innings and The Chiefs drop the first game 15-3.
Okemos rallies back in the second game to tie the score at three in the fifth. Late inning heroics from Okemos save the home team. In the last inning Mason is up by one run with two outs left and nobody on base when two walks and one clutch base hit later Okemos ties the score at three, the final 3-3. In the second game Jackson Palmer started on the mound for the Bulldogs, he was relieved by Colin Campbell and the last out was netted by Trent Stuewe for his first trip to the mound for Mason Varsity Baseball.
In the first game for Mason, "The strategy was to attack offensively and defensively and it worked," says Mason Head Coach Scott Berman.
