MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Peter Menser, Associate Planner for Meridian Township said that Meridian Township adopted a mobile food vending ordinance in late January.
"The ordinance allows vendors to come set up shop and sell food for up to 120 days, and they then can renew it (their license)," said Menser.
The mobile food vendor is also required to pay a fee, be inspected, have a state license, and get approved by the health department.
"The vendor literally has to provide proof of a photocopy of their license," said Menser. "We also verify with the county to make sure they did go through the county."
Detroit Frankie's was the first mobile food vendor to set up shop in Meridian Township, Saturday April 2nd, making pizza out of a wood fire pizza oven.
