LANSING - The Tri-County Transportation Planning Commission held an open house to discuss its plans for 2017-2020 Transportation Improvement Program.
Jim Snell, Chief Transportation Planner for Tri-County Region said, "We like to have the public involved early so that when we put projects out there that are controversial, if people have comments or concerns, even down to the smallest detail, we can address them."
People gathered to review the projects shown at the event. They were able to see maps of planned out projects for 2017-2020.
According to Snell, they are not doing any high profile, major freeway projects.
"A lot of the projects in this program focus on maintaining and resurfacing and reconstructing. We're doing a lot of bridge work, we're doing a lot of roads that are in bad reconstruction," said Snell.
Tri-County represents Ingham, Easton, and Clinton County.
Federal funding will cover about eighty percent of the projects. Some of the projects include resurfacing roads including but not limited to Herbison Road, and Schavery Road. There will also be cold mill and overlay on Canal Road, and Herbison Road, and reconstruction of Cedar Street.
