HASLETT - At the tip, Brandon Allen was 14-points away from setting Haslett High School's scoring record. The Vikings began the first quarter hot scoring within the first thirty seconds.
At the end of the first, the Vikings are on top 16-11, Allen contributed six of those points. With 2:20 to go in the second quarter Haslett's Luke Sleeper is 5-6 from the field and has 13-points to help the Vikings lead 30-17.
At the end of the second quarter Allen has nine points, Sleeper has 13 and Haslett leads 31-23. Jaden Sutton has seven points for Waverly.
With 2:36 left in the third quarter, Connor McCarthy has seven points as Haslett leads Waverly 45-31.
After back and forth offense generated by both teams, Haslett is still on top 49-38 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth with 4:37 left to play Allen breaks the Haslett scoring record with a free throw to give him 1,629 career points.
With 1:47 left in the contest the Vikings are still on top 60-47.
A skilled pass from Allen to Sleeper for the dunk puts the exclamation point on this one, the Vikings leading the Warriors 67-48 with 48 seconds left on the clock.
A basket for each later and Haslett defeats Waverly 69-50, denying the Warriors a piece of the CAAC Red title.
