OKEMOS - On Friday, the Okemos Chiefs (6-11, 4-8) lead by three with just over two minutes to go but a 10-3 run by the Jackson Vikings helped secure the 66-62 victory over the Chiefs.
Both teams were on a three-plus minute scoring drought with a little over five minutes left to play in the game, Okemos was on top by one when Luke Stagg broke the Chiefs' scoring shortage with a basket pushing Okemos to a 59-56 lead with 2:12 to play.
As Okemos was trying to run the clock down with the lead, at the 1:27 minute mark Jackson answered back when their leading scoring Shonte Suddeth knocked down a game-tying three.
The Vikings got a crucial steal and layup to go up 61-59 and would hold that lead to the very end. Jackson (8-9, 7-5) got the victory, 66-62.
Okemos was lead by Vail Hartman with 21 points and close behind were Luke Stagg with 15, CJ Pruitt with 11 and Chaz Richardson with 10.
Jackson was lead by Shonte Suddeth with 21 points, Marquise Robinson with 17 and R'mand Brown with 10.
Jackson will look to add another victory to their stat sheet this Tuesday when they take on Holt at home.
