MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the Feb. 10 Zoning Board of Appeals meeting, the Board discussed a variance involving Playmakers Footwear and Apparel Store on Grand River Ave.

A code violation was submitted to the Township regarding window signs and coverage, stating that the store cannot exceed coverage of the windows more than 40%. Playmakers exceeds this ordinance by covering the windows 100% with photos.

The owner of Playmakers, Curt Munson, says he is very conscious of making these photos look professional and tasteful to the community and has had these photos up for quite some time.

After much discussion, the Board motioned to deny the variance stating that only 40% of the windows may be covered, not 100% This variance was passed four to one.
