EAST LANSING - Home football games at Michigan State University are all about the green and white. And one group wants to make sure that the green aspect is emphasized.
The MSU Recycling Center and Surplus Store choose the Spartans last game of the year against Indiana to participate in the a nationwide game day recycling program.
Schools compete in a number of categories including; recycling rate, percent of material recycled and total amount of material recycled.
Members of MSU’s women's gymnastics and golf teams worked with the Recycling Center. They walking through various tailgating parking lots and collected recyclable material.
More than eighty universities nationwide participated in the game day challenge this season. The recycling centers choose this game to coincide with America Recycles Day, which was November 14.
If the recycling center deems this program a success they will continue it for all home games next season.
