Weekend Survival Kits

Weekend Survival Kits

UPDATE: OKEMOS - Study shows well-fed children are better in school, happier, and healthier overall which initiated the "Weekend Survival Kit" program. The program originally started 3 years ago by Mid-Michigan Food Bank when they saw the need of local elementary school students to have food on weekends.

The program sends a backpack full of food home with local elementary school students two Fridays a month. It targets students who are eligible for free or reduced price lunch at school so that they are getting enough nutrition during non-school hours.

The "Weekend Survival Kit" program is assembled, transported, stored, delivered, and funded all by volunteers.

The kits generally contain two breakfasts, two lunches, three dinners, and two snacks.
