• Flags in Downtown Okemos - May 2015

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Twenty flags will be installed along the Marsh Road frontage at the Meridian Municipal Building six times in 2016 thanks to the Haslett Kiwanis Club's Flags Over Meridian Program.

The flags are installed on Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, September 11th, and Veteran's Day. Each flag is 3' by 5' and made in the United States.

Each flag costs $36, this makes the total cost of the proposal $720. With this program the Haslett Kiwanis Club installs the flags a day or two before each listed holiday and will remove them afterward.

The motion before the Township Board at their Jan. 5 meeting was to spend an amount not exceeding $720 to participate in the 2016 Flags Over Meridian Program.

The motion passed 6-1.
