MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - For you fast food lovers out there, a new drive-thru restaurant is in the works.
Three public hearings are set for the potential "Chick-fil-A" restaurant which will be located near Meijer here in Meridian Township.
The 1st public hearing has to do with the drive-thru window, the 2nd hearing involves the work with the flood plain in that area, and the 3rd hearing is regarding the modification of an existing special use permit on Meijer's property.
"The Township has been conversing with Chick-fil-A for a while as far as getting this project underway and now its come to a point where they have everything they need to go forward and we're ready to go to the Planning Commission with these public hearings," Principal Planner of Meridian Township Gail Oranchak stated.
Oranchak mentioned that there have been quite a few individuals that have expressed quite a bit of interest in Chick-fil-A and they are just waiting to take the next step for this new restaurant.
"Once they get all their agencies that need to review and approve then they'll be ready for a building permit and that could take a few months," Oranchak said.
The public hearings are set to occur at the December 21st Planning Commission meeting and once those are finalized, the site plan will begin.
