MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Volunteers became Santa to a Senior this holiday season.
Seniors in the community were asked to write what they wanted for Christmas on a card. That card was hung on a Christmas tree in the Municipal Building for volunteers to pick a card and purchase a gift.
On December 11th, community members met in the Meridian Township Hall to wrap and deliver hundreds of gifts to seniors.
Somerset Senior Community Manager Kristen Roberts said programs like Be a Santa to a Senior are important to make sure seniors have holiday.
“Every year we make this a due diligent thing for our senior citizens here," Roberts said. "There are a lot of seniors here at Somerset Apartments who wouldn’t have a Christmas if it wasn’t for this agency."
Seniors asked for gifts like sheets, blankets and gift cards and were filled with joy upon receiving their gifts.
