LANSING - The Capitol City Chordsmen is a barbershop men's chorus from Lansing, Michigan. As a unique part of Barbershop Harmony Society, its members are from all around Mid-Michigan and have men of all ages. The Barbershop Harmony Society is a nationwide organization that formed 75 years ago, its Lansing chapter was founded a year after the regular society formed, it aims to provide a place for people who want to sing, more than 50 members have joined Capitol City Chordsmen right now.
Aspired to excellence within the society, Capitol City Chordsmen tried to execute every aspect of its music craft in a quality way. While in the process, its goal is to be a source of pride to the Barbershop Harmony Society, community, and families.
“It gives us an opportunity to perform on stage, again, sing is wonderful for the soul, if you are feeling creepy and tired, and after 50 min. singing you are feeling great,” said Capitol City Chordsmen’s Director, Steve Warnaar.
Beyond that, Capitol City Chordsmen contribute to sing for charity events as well. “We get calls from all different society, and groups that would like 30 min. performance, we glad to do that, we go out and sing sometime at noon, some time at three, we put on various shows at some living center, some of the charitable organizations, and we just have good time.”
Capitol City Chordsmen’s activities include organized quartets, tag singing, socializing, and fellowship.
Capitol City Chordsmen works continuously seeking for better singing and presentation, it rehearsalS at the Great Lakes Home on the corner of Washington and Holt Rd in Holt, Michigan on every tuesday evenings at 7PM.
