MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The line was out the door, and around the building as customers waited for the new Aldi on Marsh Road to open up this morning.
The first 100 people in line got a "golden ticket" redeemable for free food inside the store.
Customers were excited to spend their money, sample some food, and snag some deals--what Aldi is known for.
Aldi keeps costs down by eliminating things like grocery bags, and only accepts cash--no swiping here.
Aldi's District Manager Matt Peisert says that the customer is Aldi's number one priority, especially on a busy opening day.
"It's about customer service, just helping customer find what they need, and getting them in and out as quickly as we can," said Peisert.
Store Manager Scott Mcgrady works at one of the Lansing locations, and says that Aldi is a different shopping experience for consumers for a number of reasons.
"You know, we sell groceries, customer service oriented, but it's how we achieve the prices that we do," said Mcgrady. "We're kind of doing the work of many people, so that's kind of chaotic, you don't see 20-30 people working at a time."
